The state government of São Paulo will open the Institute of Technology Research (IPT) campus for companies to set up their own innovation centers or participate in Hubs, with the involvement of startups, supplier clients, universities, research centers, investors, researchers and government agencies in the same environment. The project called IPT Open Experience was launched yesterday (31) with the goal of generating new products and innovative solutions through public-private partnership.
Companies of all sizes and economic sectors that need solutions with high technological intensity can participate. This is the first phase of the International Technology and Innovation Center (CITI) project and will work with R&D centers, where companies can create their own applied research centers and innovation hubs, an environment created to solve technological challenges.
“IPT Open is the appreciation of a newer and more transformative institution that is 120 years old but increasingly modern. We want São Paulo to have the international standard, because we have to think that our competitors are outside Brazil. Sao Paulo has to be inserted in the context of the international dispute. We want to evolve in technology and attract the private sector with reliability, good proposals, transparency,” said Governor João Doria during the launching ceremony.
On the occasion, Doria also signed a partnership between the IPT, the World Economic Forum and the Special Secretariat of Productivity, Employment and Competitiveness of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications to start implementing in August a pilot project for the adoption of fourth industrial revolution technologies in small and medium enterprises to increase productivity.
Carlos da Costa, Special Secretary for Productivity, Employment and Competitiveness at the Ministry of Economy, said the federal government is supporting the IPT Open in a number of ways, especially by giving full impetus to diversity. According to him, São Paulo’s great innovation centers have always been great centers for the diversity of cultures, people and shopping centers.
“This mix of the different that enhances innovation and bring research and development centers of large companies to a center like this that is a reference in technological research will generate a new explosion of innovation for Sao Paulo and Brazil,” said the secretary.
