The covid-19 pandemic negatively affected the activities of 62.4% of the 2.8 million companies in operation in the second half of June. For 22.5% of the companies, the effect was small or nonexistent and for 15.1% it was positive. The data appear in the Impact of Covid-19 on Companies research, released yesterday (30) as part of the Experimental Statistics of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The impact was greater in small companies, with up to 49 employees, the largest contingent in the sample, in which 62.7% perceived negative effects, compared to 46.3% of those of intermediate size, with up to 499 employees, and 50.5 % among large companies, with 500 employees or more.
The companies in the service sector were the ones that most felt negative impacts (65.5%), with emphasis on the segment of services provided to families (86.7%). In commerce, 64.1% reported negative effects and in construction, 53.6%. In the industrial sector, 48.7% of companies reported having a negative impact, while for 24.3% the effect was small or nonexistent and for 27% the impact in that fortnight was positive.
By large regions, the effects remained negative for 72% of companies in the Northeast, 65% in the Southeast and 63% in the Midwest. The North and South regions had the highest percentage of companies that declared that the effects were non-existent (27.4% and 30.9%, respectively) or positive (24.5% and 15.2%) at the end of the fortnight.
According to the coordinator of Conjunctural Research in Companies at IBGE, Flávio Magheli, in general, the perception of difficulty of the general impact of the pandemic on companies remains. “This perception is concentrated in smaller companies, but it also appears to be disseminated both by economic activity and by location in the territory.”
According to IBGE, the results of the second round of the survey reflect the perceptions of companies in operation at the end of the second half of June compared to the first half, whose results were released on July 16th.

Brasil: 62,4% das empresas foram afetadas negativamente pela pandemia
A pandemia de covid-19 afetou negativamente as atividades de 62,4% dos 2,8 milhões de empresas em funcionamento na segunda quinzena de junho. Para 22,5% das empresas o efeito foi pequeno ou inexistente e para 15,1% foi positivo. Os dados constam da Pesquisa Pulso Empresa: Impacto da Covid-19 nas Empresas, divulgada hoje (30), e fazem parte das Estatísticas Experimentais do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE).
O impacto foi maior em empresas de pequeno porte, com até 49 funcionários, o maior contingente da amostra, em que 62,7% perceberam efeitos negativos, ante 46,3% das de porte intermediário, com até 499 funcionários, e 50,5% entre as de grande porte, com 500 funcionários ou mais.
As empresas do setor de serviços foram as que mais sentiram impactos negativos (65,5%), com destaque para o segmento de serviços prestados às famílias (86,7%). No comércio, 64,1% relataram efeitos negativos e na construção, 53,6%. No setor industrial, 48,7% das empresas informaram ter tido impacto negativo, enquanto para 24,3% o efeito foi pequeno ou inexistente e para 27% o impacto nessa quinzena foi positivo.
Por grandes regiões, os efeitos continuaram negativos para 72% das empresas no Nordeste, 65% no Sudeste e 63% no Centro-Oeste. As regiões Norte e Sul apresentaram os maiores percentuais de empresas que declararam que os efeitos foram inexistentes (27,4% e 30,9%, respectivamente) ou positivos (24,5% e 15,2%) ao final da quinzena.
De acordo com o coordenador de Pesquisas Conjunturais em Empresas do IBGE, Flávio Magheli, de maneira geral, permanece a percepção de dificuldade do impacto geral da pandemia sobre as empresas. “Essa percepção está concentrada nas empresas de menor porte, mas também aparece disseminada seja por atividade econômica seja pela localização no território.”
Segundo o IBGE, os resultados da segunda rodada da pesquisa refletem as percepções das empresas em funcionamento ao final da segunda quinzena de junho em comparação à primeira quinzena, cujos resultados foram divulgados no último dia 16.
