Last Tuesday, July 28, Apex-Brasil held the Invest in Brasil Infrastructure event, one of the largest events in the country aimed at attracting investments to the infrastructure sector. The event had more than 1,100 participants from 48 countries, with an average audience of 700 spectators.
Organized in the form of online lectures with moderation and Q&As, Invest in Brasil Infrastructure featured presentations by leading authorities in the infrastructure and investment sector, such as Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Ernesto Araújo, Infrastructure, Tarcísio Freitas, and Development Regional, Rogério Marinho, the Special Secretary of the Secretariat of the Investment Partnerships Program (PPI), Martha Seillier and the Director of Infrastructure, Concessions and PPP of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Fábio Almeida Abrahão, in addition to representatives from the private sector Norman Anderson, CEO of CG / LA Infrastructure and Venilton Tadini, President of ABDIB (Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Basic Industries).
In addition, presentations were made on some projects that are already available for investment in the portfolios of national and subnational institutions, such as two projects under the PPI program (the Ferrogrão railroad and two National Parks projects), BNDES sanitation projects in Alagoas and in Rio de Janeiro, highway concessions in Minas Gerais and an industrial airport project associated with Belo Horizonte (MG) airport.
For Sergio Segovia, president of Apex-Brasil, the event was a great success. “We have no doubt that we will see results soon. We have already received 25 requests for bilateral meetings between representatives of the Federal Government and foreign investors. The holding of events of this size reinforces the importance of Apex-Brasil’s performance as a one-stop-shop in attracting investments, and demonstrates how our work continues to be increasingly relevant to the promotion of investment opportunities in our country ”.
Opportunities in various sectors
The speakers highlighted the attractiveness of Brazilian projects, even in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, and were unanimous in pointing out issues such as progress in the Brazilian regulatory environment, legal security and respect for contracts, in addition to the environmental sustainability of the projects.
“Brazil has a strong portfolio of infrastructure projects, which allows investors to explore a whole system of opportunities. More than 100 auctions will be held until 2022. Investment projects in Brazil have the greatest potential for returns globally. Another factor is the structuring of quality: the government today has the best prepared structure in its history. We also have the most sustainable projects on the planet and we want to show the world that investing in the country is synonymous with promoting sustainability,” said Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio de Freitas.
Minister Rogério Marinho highlighted in his speech the legal framework for sanitation and projects aimed at revitalizing river basins, treating solid waste and public lighting, among others. “After six years of discussion, we managed 15 days ago, under the leadership of President Jair Bolsonaro, to approve the sanitation framework, which brings legal certainty, predictability and respect for contracts. And it allows to rhyme economy with health, environment with sustainability”, said Marinho.
“The new sanitation framework will allow us to face the challenge that is the universalization of the sewage treatment system, the supply of drinking water and the treatment of solid waste, which will benefit more than 100 million Brazilians. We know that there is great liquidity in the market at the moment, but we know that there is great concern for this liquidity to be invested with predictability, legal certainty, respect for contracts, sustainable development and green infrastructure. That is what we are offering”, concluded Marinho.
Martha Seillier, PPI’s Special Secretary, presented data that confirm the greatness of investment projects. “PPI is a very successful program, which in 4 years has already delivered 168 projects, raising R$ 708 billion in investments. In 2019, we had 36 auctions held, which involved US$ 103 billion in investments,” she said.

Brasil Investment Forum
Following a series of initiatives to attract foreign investments to the country, Apex-Brasil, in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Federal Government, will hold on November 9 and 10 the third edition of Brasil Investment Forum. The event will be held in São Paulo, but in a hybrid format (in person and online). The Forum aims to present several investment opportunities that Brazil offers in strategic sectors, such as agribusiness, defense, energy, infrastructure, innovation and technologies, among others.

Brasil: Evento para atração de investimentos em infraestrutura reúne 700 participantes de 48 países
A Apex-Brasil realizou na última terça-feira, 28 de julho, o evento Invest in Brasil Infrastructure, um dos maiores eventos do país voltados à atração de investimentos para o setor de infraestrutura. O evento teve mais de 1.100 inscritos de 48 países, com audiência média de 700 espectadores.
Organizado em forma de palestras online com moderação e espaço para perguntas, o Invest in Brasil Infrastructure contou com apresentações de importantes autoridades no setor da infraestrutura e investimentos, como os Ministros das Relações Exteriores, Ernesto Araújo, da Infraestrutura, Tarcísio Freitas, e do Desenvolvimento Regional, Rogério Marinho, a Secretária Especial da Secretaria do Programa de Parcerias de Investimentos (PPI), Martha Seillier e o Diretor de Infraestrutura, Concessões e PPP do Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES), Fábio Almeida Abrahão, além de representantes do setor privado Norman Anderson, CEO da CG/LA Infrastructure e Venilton Tadini, Presidente da ABDIB (Associação Brasileira da Infraestrutura e Indústrias de Base).
Além disso, foram realizadas apresentações de alguns projetos que já estão disponíveis para investimento nas carteiras de instituições nacionais e subnacionais, como dois projetos do programa PPI (a ferrovia Ferrogrão e projetos de dois Parques Nacionais), projetos de saneamento do BNDES em Alagoas e no Rio de Janeiro, concessões de rodovias em Minas Gerais e um projeto de aeroporto industrial associado ao aeroporto de Belo Horizonte (MG).
Para Sergio Segovia, presidente da Apex-Brasil, o evento foi um grande sucesso. “Não temos dúvidas de que perceberemos os resultados em breve. Já recebemos 25 solicitações de reuniões bilaterais entre representantes do Governo Federal e investidores estrangeiros. A realização de eventos desse porte reforça a importância da atuação da Apex-Brasil como one-stop-shop na atração de investimentos, e demonstra como nosso trabalho segue cada vez mais relevante para a promoção das oportunidades de investimento em nosso País”.
Oportunidades em diversos setores
Os palestrantes destacaram a atratividade dos projetos brasileiros, mesmo no cenário da pandemia do coronavírus, e foram unânimes em apontar questões como o avanço no ambiente regulatório brasileiro, a segurança jurídica e o respeito aos contratos, além da sustentabilidade ambiental dos projetos.
“O Brasil tem um portfólio pujante de projetos de infraestrutura, que permite ao investidor explorar todo um sistema de oportunidades. Mais de 100 leilões serão realizados até 2022. Os projetos de investimento do Brasil têm o maior potencial de retorno do mundo. Um outro fator é a estruturação de qualidade: o governo tem hoje a estruturação mais bem preparada de sua história. Também temos os projetos mais sustentáveis do planeta e queremos mostrar ao mundo que o investimento no país é sinônimo de promoção da sustentabilidade”, afirmou o ministro da Infraestrutura, Tarcísio de Freitas.
O ministro Rogério Marinho destacou em sua fala o marco legal do saneamento e projetos voltados para revitalização de bacias hidrográficas, tratamento de resíduos sólidos e iluminação pública, entre outros. “Após seis anos de discussão, conseguimos há 15 dias, sob liderança do presidente Jair Bolsonaro, aprovar o marco do saneamento, que traz segurança jurídica, previsibilidade e respeito aos contratos. E permite rimar economia com saúde, meio ambiente com sustentabilidade”, disse Marinho.
“O novo marco do saneamento nos permitirá enfrentar o desafio que é a universalização do sistema de tratamento de esgoto, fornecimento de água potável e tratamento de resíduos sólidos, o que beneficiará mais de 100 milhões de brasileiros. Sabemos que há grande liquidez no mercado nesse momento, mas sabemos que há preocupação grande para que essa liquidez seja investida com previsibilidade, segurança jurídica, respeito a contratos, desenvolvimento sustentável e infraestrutura verde. É isso que estamos oferecendo”, concluiu Marinho.
Martha Seillier, Secretária Especial da PPI, apresentou dados que confirmam a grandeza dos projetos de investimentos. “O PPI é um programa muito exitoso, que em 4 anos já entregou 168 projetos arrecadando R$ 708 bilhões em investimentos. Em 2019 tivemos 36 leilões realizados, que envolveram US$ 103 bilhões em investimentos”, afirmou.

Brasil Investment Forum
