Brazil should end 2021 by exporting US$ 53 billion more than importing. The projection was released by the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) of the Ministry of Economy.
According to the department, exports should reach US$ 221.1 billion in 2021, with growth of 5.3% in relation to 2020. Imports should end the year at US$ 168.1 billion, with an increase of 5.8% .
Updated every three months by Secex, the official estimate was lower than expected by financial institutions. According to the Focus bulletin, a weekly survey of market analysts released by the Central Bank (BC), the projected trade surplus for 2021 was US$ 55.1 billion.
In 2020, Brazil exported US$ 50.99 billion more than it imported. This was the third best year for the trade balance, second only to the record surplus of US$ 66.99 billion in 2017 and US$ 58.03 billion in 2018.
The 2020 result represents growth of 6.2% in relation to the surplus of 2019, when the country exported US$ 48.03 billion more than it imported. Despite the increase, the result was below expectations by financial institutions. Analysts surveyed by the Focus bulletin estimated that the trade balance would end 2020 with a surplus of US$ 55.05 billion.

Em 2020, o Brasil exportou US$ 50,99 bilhões a mais do que importou. Esse foi o terceiro melhor ano para a balança comercial, perdendo apenas para o superávit recorde de US$ 66,99 bilhões registrado em 2017 e de US$ 58,03 bilhões em 2018.
O resultado de 2020 representa crescimento de 6,2% em relação ao superávit de 2019, quando o país exportou US$ 48,03 bilhões a mais do que importou.
