Annual report compares 2017 and 2018 data
Investments for research and development of the oil and gas sector in Brazil registered a 66% increase in resources applied from 2017 to 2018. From R$ 1.2 billion to R$ 2 billion last year. The data is available in the 4th edition of the Rio de Janeiro Oil Industry Yearbook: Panorama 2019, released yesterday (7), by the Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan) and based mainly on national data released by the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP). International data were obtained from the U.S Energy Information Administration (EIA) and BP Statistical Review from BP (British Petroleum). The yearbook gives an overview of the oil and gas sector and points to perspectives.
Resources for development and innovation research may be expanded in the coming years. According to the Director-General of the National Organization of the Petroleum Industry (ONIP) and Firjan’s Oil, Gas and Naval Manager, Karine Fragoso, studies by the Brazilian Institute of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (IBP) indicate that by 2025 More than R$ 30 billion should be invested in the country for development and innovation research. “These resources and this research development tool, especially from Brazil, will be fundamental to the new face of the sector,” she said in an interview with Agência Brasil.
“An environment is being built with great possibilities for us to make a technological leap from these resources actually applied in research and innovation,” she added.
