The Brasil Investment Forum (BIF) 2021, organized by Apex-Brasil, the IDB and the Federal Government, brought together government and multinational representatives in a two-day online event
In two days, Brazil presented projects that should attract investments of US$ 50 billion over the next two years, generating more than 20,000 jobs. This amount is considered strategic for boosting the national economy. This is the result of the Brasil Investment Forum 2021, considered the largest investment attraction event in Latin America. Completely online, the forum was opened by the President Jair Bolsonaro, and had the presence of several government and private sector representatives. Multinationals from around the world participated in panels, presentations and high-level meetings.
The numbers revealed reflect the grandeur of the forum, which had 6,309 participants from 101 countries, with more than 30 sectors of the economy represented. The more than 6,000 people registered for the event were able to interact with each other through a virtual platform, which provided access a real-time programme, in addition to exclusive tools and content – such as the matchmaking service between participants, via an application. The digital environment ensured the holding of 211 strategic meetings, essential for forecasting new investments for Brazil.
With content offered in different languages, the event was considered a milestone in innovation, especially in the user experience. The fourth edition of the forum was the first held online, due to the safety standards related to the Covid-19 pandemic. Although determined by circumstances, BIF’s online format made it possible for opportunities to reach even more investors and entrepreneurs, expanding the capacity to attract foreign investment. In total, 3,643 private messages and 424 public messages were exchanged through the event’s official platform. From desktops, there were 190,242 hits to the event’s website pages. Via app, there were 26,925 visits.
The states of the federation that, in previous events, had physical booths to serve participants, were not left out and, through virtual booths, presented their investment projects, answered questions and held meetings with interested investors.
Throughout the BIF, articulators from all spheres of the country committed themselves to the reform agenda and to a favorable environment for new investments which, according to the President of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), Augusto Pestana, will contribute to the sustainable and balanced growth of the country. “BIF has a very positive impact for Brazil in terms of income generation and technology attraction in areas as important as, for example, the health area”, stated Pestana.
Improvement of the business environment
At the opening of the event, President Jair Bolsonaro, presented attractiveness of the business environment in Brazil, in light of the political and institutional arrangement and economic policy measures for the post-pandemic period of Covid-19 : “My government is committed to reforms and structural projects to reduce the Brazil cost. It’s about improving standards and policies to improve the business environment. For this, we design tax solutions that ensure macroeconomic stability in a context of budgetary challenge”, declared the president.
The President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Maurício Claver-Carone, also present at the opening, highlighted the importance of an environment aimed at attracting investments, at a time when the world is still experiencing the effects of the retraction caused by the pandemic. “Brazil is one of the most promising and most active markets in the global economy. I am very proud to be here and to present Brazil as one of the countries with the greatest investment potential in Latin America”, he said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Alberto França, highlighted Brazil’s growth prospects and its repositioning as a key player in attracting global investments. ”The Brazilian government works to open up our economy, improve the business environment and transform Brazil into one of the most attractive countries in the world to invest. Our main objective is a firm and definitive integration of Brazil into global value-adding chains”, pointed out the minister.
Development
The 1.2% growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in the first quarter of the year, was mentioned by Minister Tarcísio de Freitas, who participated in the second Keynote Session, this Tuesday (06/01). “Look for our projects. What is to come is big, of the magnitude of Brazil”, he highlighted, complementing
ting that the Federal Government prepared a large investment program, which allowed for 70 auctions to be held in the infrastructure sector. “Brazil held auctions for highways, ports, airports, railways. We returned to investing in the rail mode. We are transforming our transport matrix, which will be much more efficient in a few years”, celebrated Freitas.
The Chief Minister of the Civil House, Luiz Eduardo Ramos, also highlighted the resumption of economic growth and the effort to reinvigorate international investments. “The moment is very favorable. Those who do not invest in Brazil now, next year, will be very sorry”, warned the minister, while enumerating government actions to improve the business environment.
The BIF was also attended by the Ministers of Economy, Paulo Guedes; of Health, Marcelo Queiroga; of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Freitas; of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque; of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Tereza Cristina; and Communications, Fábio Faria. Representatives and CEOs of prominent multinationals also attended the event.
Discussing strategic sectors
The fourth edition of the Brasil Investment Forum presented investment opportunities in strategic sectors of the economy, such as agribusiness, energy, infrastructure, innovation and technology. Participants of the online event had access to in-depth debates in two keynote sessions, four simultaneous sessions and eight panels, which included topics related to the global economy, industry 4.0, foreign direct investment, infrastructure, startups and the regulatory agenda and of reforms, among others. Representatives of the government, civil society and investors were also gathered in the presentation rooms of public and private projects in Brazil, selected for their high potential for investors.

Brasil deve receber mais de US$ 50 bi em investimentos a partir do BIF
O Brasil Investment Forum (BIF) 2021, organizado pela Apex-Brasil, pelo BID e pelo Governo Federal, reuniu representantes do governo e de multinacionais em dois dias de evento online
Em dois dias, o Brasil apresentou projetos que devem atrair investimentos de US$ 50 bilhões nos próximos dois anos, gerando mais de 20 mil empregos. Trata-se de um montante considerado estratégico para o impulsionamento da economia nacional. Esse é o resultado do Brasil Investment Forum 2021, considerado o maior evento de atração de investimentos da América Latina. Totalmente online, o fórum contou com abertura do Presidente da República, Jair Bolsonaro, e com a presença de diversos representantes do governo e do setor privado. Multinacionais de todo o mundo participaram dos painéis, de salas de apresentação de projetos e de reuniões de alto nível.
Os números revelados refletem a grandiosidade do fórum, que contou com 6.309 participantes de 101 países, com mais de 30 setores da economia representados. Os mais de 6 mil inscritos no evento puderam interagir entre si, por meio de uma plataforma virtual, que disponibilizou acesso à programação em tempo real, além de ferramentas e conteúdos exclusivos – como o serviço de matchmaking entre os participantes, via aplicativo. O ambiente digital garantiu a realização de 211 reuniões estratégicas, fundamentais para a previsão de novos investimentos para o Brasil.
Com conteúdo oferecido em diferentes idiomas, o evento foi considerado um marco na inovação, especialmente na experiência do usuário. A quarta edição do fórum foi a primeira realizada de forma online, em função das normas de segurança relacionadas à pandemia da Covid-19. Ainda que determinado pelas circunstâncias, o formato online do BIF possibilitou que oportunidades chegassem a ainda mais investidores e empresários, ampliando a capacidade de atração de investimentos estrangeiros. No total, 3.643 mensagens privadas e 424 mensagens públicas foram trocadas por meio da plataforma oficial do evento. A partir de desktops, foram 190.242 acessos às páginas do site do evento. Por aplicativo, foram 26.925 visitas.
Os estados da federação que, nos eventos anteriores, tinham estandes físicos para atendimento aos participantes, não ficaram de fora e, por meio de estandes virtuais, apresentaram seus projetos de investimentos, tiraram dúvidas e fizeram reuniões com os investidores interessados.
Ao longo do BIF, articuladores de todas as esferas do país se comprometeram com a agenda de reformas e com um ambiente propício para novos investimentos que, segundo o Presidente da Agência Brasileira de Promoção de Exportações e Investimentos (Apex-Brasil), Augusto Pestana, contribuirão para o crescimento sustentável e equilibrado do país. “O BIF provoca um impacto muito positivo para o Brasil em termos de geração de renda e de atração de tecnologias em áreas tão importantes como, por exemplo, a área da saúde”, afirmou Pestana.
Melhora do ambiente de negócios
Na abertura do evento, o Presidente da República, Jair Bolsonaro, apresentou os atributos de segurança e atratividade do ambiente de negócios no Brasil, à luz do arranjo político e institucional e das medidas de política econômica para o período pós-pandemia da Covid-19: “Meu governo tem compromisso com reformas e projetos estruturantes para reduzir o custo Brasil. Trata-se de aperfeiçoar normas e políticas para melhorar o ambiente de negócios. Para isso, desenhamos soluções tributárias que asseguram a estabilidade macroeconômica em contexto de desafio orçamentário”, declarou o presidente.
O Presidente do Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento (BID), Maurício Claver-Carone, também presente na abertura, destacou a relevância de um ambiente voltado à atração de investimentos, no momento em que o mundo ainda vive reflexos da retração provocada pela pandemia. “O Brasil é um dos mercados mais promissores e mais ativos da economia global. Eu tenho muito orgulho de estar aqui e de apresentar o Brasil como um dos países com o maior potencial de investimentos da América Latina”, afirmou.
Já o Ministro das Relações Exteriores, Carlos Alberto França, destacou as perspectivas de crescimento do Brasil e seu reposicionamento como um ator-chave na atração de investimentos globais. ”O governo brasileiro trabalha pela abertura de nossa economia, pelo aperfeiçoamento do ambiente de negócios e pela transformação do Brasil em um dos países mais atraentes do mundo para investir. Nosso objetivo central é uma integração firme e definitiva do Brasil às cadeias globais de agregação de valor”, apontou o ministro.
Desenvolvimento
O crescimento de 1,2% do Produto Interno Bruto (PIB), no primeiro trimestre do ano, foi citado pelo Ministro Tarcísio de Freitas, que participou da segunda Keynote Session, nesta terça-feira (01/06). “Procure nossos projetos. O que está por vir é grande, da magnitude do Brasil”, destacou ele, complementando que o Governo Federal elaborou um grande programa de investimentos, que permitiu a realização de 70 leilões no setor de infraestrutura. “O Brasil fez leilões de rodovias, portos, aeroportos, ferrovias. Voltamos a investir no modo ferroviário. Estamos transformando a nossa matriz de transporte, que vai ser muito mais eficiente daqui a alguns anos”, comemorou Freitas.
O Ministro-Chefe da Casa Civil, Luiz Eduardo Ramos, também ressaltou a retomada do crescimento econômico e o empenho para revigorar os investimentos internacionais. “O momento é muito favorável. Os que não investirem agora no Brasil, ano que vem estarão muito arrependidos”, alertou o ministro, enquanto enumerava as ações governamentais para melhorar o ambiente de negócios.
O BIF ainda contou com a presença dos Ministros da Economia, Paulo Guedes; da Saúde, Marcelo Queiroga; da Infraestrutura, Tarcísio Freitas; de Minas e Energia, Bento Albuquerque; da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento, Tereza Cristina; e das Comunicações, Fábio Faria. Representantes e CEOs de multinacionais de destaque também prestigiaram o evento.
Setores estratégicos em debate
A quarta edição do Brasil Investment Forum apresentou oportunidades de investimento em setores estratégicos da economia, como agronegócios, energia, infraestrutura, inovação e tecnologia. Os participantes do evento online tiveram acesso a debates aprofundados em duas keynote sessions, quatro sessões paralelas e em oito paineis, que incluíram temas relacionados à economia global, à indústria 4.0, ao investimento estrangeiro direto, à infraestrutura, às startups e à agenda regulatória e de reformas, entre outros. Representantes do governo, da sociedade civil e investidores ainda estiveram reunidos em salas de apresentação de projetos públicos e privados no Brasil, selecionados por caracterizar um alto potencial para investidores.
